FESTIVALS AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE

LA TOMATINA

Perhaps the most famous food festival of Spain for which the tourists come each and every year. Most of the economy of Spain depends on the festivities and football. The festivals of San Fermin which happens in Pamplona of Spain is very famous. Happens every time between 6th till 14th of July where the bulls are led into the streets by bull runners, running for nearly quarter of the street. After launching of some fireworks, the bulls are run nearly 1000 metres; though it looks to be something very thrilling, people have to be careful not to get run over by them. Kind of a festival driven by adrenaline is a sight to see. (the encierro) or as it is called in the eveof SanFermin, the bull running is celebrated.

Bastille Day (France)

The bastille is located on the eastern side of Paris, it was a medieval fortressbuild during the 14thcentury, and it was converted into a state prison. But the real significance of Bastille Day is the backdrop of French Revolution.On 14th of July 1790 the common people stormed the castle of Bastille and declared Liberty, Equality and Fraternity. This revolution was very significant because the revolutionaries proved that the French Monarch had little or no control over the common people. The aftermath was also very significant as the French royalty was gradually executed. The celebrations of this day are very elaborate and the security is top notch as presidents of other European countries even the us come to see the demonstration and march past. There occurs an annual parade through the Champs Elysees. Regarded as the oldest parade in Europe, lots of foreign guests are invited. It is broadcasted on national television.

When we learn a foreign language, like Spanish it teaches us a lot of things apart from just grammar these festivals or monuments helps us to earn another motivation apart from grammar but learning the culture as a whole and be a part of their history.
