LEARNING A FOREIGN LANGUAGE THROUGH HISTORY

Learning a Foreign Language in an Institute does not only mean learning grammar and rules. It also means learning the culture, the history of these people. By studying history we get a better idea of the language and a passion for studying it.

Spain and Latin America

Spain was an imperialistic power during the 1500s and Columbus accidentally reached Latin America and was mesmerized by the resources they had. The indigenous people there were innocent and not aware of his cunning intention .His discovery led to the invasion of Spain in South America people like Herman Cortez used this opportunity to rule and rob Latin America of their resources. The two centuries of human oppression in Latin America actually produced the variety in Spanish .AS we see the different accent in different Latin American countries and also a distinct difference of pronouncing the same words in Spain and Latin America.

The French Revolution

The French revolution was a slow build up of accumulated anger in the common people. The French monarch king Louis spends lot of money in international Wars and his extravagant lifestyle and this resulted in heavy debt in the French society. The lavish life of the French clergy led to the revolt as common people had to do forced labor and there was little money for them.  This helped in the growth of new extremist leaders like Robespierre .The revolution had serious outcome as the French monarch was killed and Napoleon rose to power.

The purpose of studying History when learning foreign language

Learning a foreign language means you are introducing yourself to another culture. Knowing where they come from and the struggle they had to face in order to preserve their culture, the philosophers their struggle to spread the modern thinking in man all actually summed up as the language you are studying. When learning a foreign language not only means mastering the language but also having a profound knowledge of the culture and aspects of the society. Only speaking a language or writing is not enough until one knows the history of the people who speak. Learning a foreign language with the help of a language teacher in a coaching institute means you are getting help of a trained professional in all aspects of exposing yourself to this language. So history and language go hand I hand as without history a language could not have formed.
